California Baptist women’s basketball team rallies past Abilene Christian to widen WAC lead
Feb 07, 2026
Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas, has a tendency to bring out the very best in Khloe Lemon.
Lemon sank six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 25 points as the California Baptist University women’s basketball team erased a double-digit, second-half deficit and outlasted Abilene Christian 74-7
1 in a Western Athletic Conference game Saturday.
Lemon made 9 of 13 shots from the field Saturday, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range. She had 29 points in Abilene last season.
California Baptist (16-8 overall, 10-1 in the WAC) avenged its only conference loss, a 70-58 setback in Riverside on Jan. 15, and handed Abilene Christian its first home loss of the season (12-0 prior to Saturday afternoon’s game). The Lancers also widened their lead in the conference standings to two games over Abilene Christian and three over Southern Utah with seven left to play.
Lemon, a junior guard, scored four points as the Lancers closed the first half with an 8-0 run to take a 40-33 lead at intermission.
CBU failed to carry that momentum into the third quarter, however. The Lancers missed their first eight shots of the second half and also turned the ball over four times during a scoreless stretch of nearly 4 1/2 minutes.
Abilene Christian (17-7, 8-3) took advantage, piecing together a 17-0 run and taking a 50-40 lead with 3:55 left in the third period. Lemon ended the scoring drought for the Lancers with a 3-pointer, but CBU still faced a 58-49 deficit entering the fourth quarter.
CBU opened the final period with a 16-4 run to regain the advantage. Lemon drained a 3-pointer to bring the Lancers level at 62 with 4:46 remaining, and Filipa Barros knocked down another from behind the arc on the next possession to give CBU the lead.
The score was tied at 67 with less than 2 minutes left on the clock, but Emma Johansson and Lauren Olsen made layups to put the Lancers up 71-67 with 1:14 left to play. Lemon sealed CBU’s victory with a 3-pointer with 14 seconds showing on the clock.
Olsen finished with 16 points, and Barros added 12 points and six steals for CBU. Lemon also had a game-high seven rebounds.
Emma Troxell scored 22 points to lead the way for Abilene Christian, while Payton Hull added 19 points for the Wildcats.
California Baptist and Abilene Christian will square off in the rubber match of the season series March 5 at Moody Coliseum.
The Lancers return for a three-game homestand versus Southern Utah (Feb. 12), Utah Tech (Feb. 14) and Utah Valley (Feb. 18).
