Marin Hamill narrowly misses Olympic freeski slopestyle finals

LIVIGNO, Italy — Park City freeskier Marin Hamill narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympic slopestyle finals, finishing in 16th place Saturday.
The 24 year old, competing in her second Games, put down a best score of 47.91 in her two runs at the Livigno Snow Park. Italy’s Maria Gasslitter
took the 12th and last finals spot with a score of 54.66.
Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud, the defending Olympic slopestyle champion and the No. 1 slopestyle skier in the world, took first with a score of 79.15.
China’s Eileen Gu, who won a silver medal in slopestyle at the 2022 Beijing Games and two golds at the same Olympics in freeski big air and halfpipe, took second place with a score of 75.30.
Hamill’s U.S. teammate and U.S. Ski Team rookie Avery Krumme took fourth place with a score of 64.93.
Fellow Parkite and U.S. skier Rell Harwood was one of three to not make it to the starting line.
Krumme was the only American to advance to Monday’s finals. The field will also include Canadian Megan Oldham, ranked third in the world. The finals will run from 12:30-2:10 p.m. CEST and 4:30-6:10 a.m. MST.

A replay of qualifying will be on NBC Saturday at 9:30 a.m. MST
