Auto exec buys Cherry Hills mansion for $9.3M to lead January luxury real estate sales

A newly constructed Belgian-inspired mansion in Cherry Hills Village sold for $9.3 million to top January’s luxury home sales in the region.

oodhouse Auto Family operates 30 car dealerships across Nebraska.
The sellers, the Peter A. Scott and the Kimberly S. Scott Living Trust, purchased the 1-acre property for $2.3 million in 2020. Peter Scott, the former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Denver-based Healthpeak Properties, is CEO of HealthCare Realty Trust in Nashville, Tennessee.
Houston architect Murphy Mears designed the mansion, completed in 2024. Designer Susan Weiss of Emerson Bailey worked on the interior.
The mansion features a limestone-and-concrete facade that opens to reveal plaster walls and ceilings, custom raw-steel railings, and European wide-plank white oak floors throughout. The chef’s kitchen flows into a great room with reclaimed herringbone brick, a French antique stone fireplace, and cedar-wrapped beams.
The Hoholik Team with Milehimodern represented the sellers. The Bernardi Group with Coldwell Banker Realty 14 represented the buyers.

Details: Lynn Alan Peterson and his wife, Lynn Dowell-Peterson, bought two units atop Denver’s Saddlery Building and combined them into one 6,700-square-foot penthouse.
The Petersons hired Boss Architecture to redesign the space with three en suite bedrooms, an art gallery, a wine room, an office and a craft room that can function as a fourth bedroom. It features an open floor plan, high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and original heavy timber beams from the century-old building.
The copper-wrapped exterior features a 2,500-square-foot rooftop terrace that includes retractable glass walls, landscaping, water features, fire pits and an outdoor kitchen.
The Petersons bought the two units for $3 million and $2.4 million in September 2011. They listed the penthouse for $9 million Aug. 8. Arizona-based JenDen LLC bought the penthouse Jan. 15.

Details: Nine FE LLC, formed in November by Luke Van Valin, purchased the 8,8240-square-foot mansion on 2.5-acres Jan. 16 in an off-market transaction. The five-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion was built in 2013.
Van Valin is a sports commentator and former professional freestyle skier who has worked as a broadcaster for NBC Sports and ESPN since 2008, covering events including the Winter Olympics and X Games. He serves as vice president of sales at RUH AI and managing partner at Bastion Capital LLC, which focuses on AI applications in business.
The seller, 4800 Whitehall LLC II, purchased the property for $975,000 in July 2013.

The sellers, the Cherylynn R. Foss and Michael E. Foss Joint Revocable Trust, purchased the home for $3.4 million in 2020 and listed it for $4.2 million Sept. 9. Michael Foss is the former CEO of Sports Authority, which closed in 2016.
