The Philadelphia region is experiencing life-threatening cold this weekend with wind chills that could drop to as low as negative 25 degrees. Saturday, Feb. 7 will be bitterly cold with wind gusts reaching between 40 to 60 m.p.h. The highest gusts will be down the Jersey Shore and areas that border the Delaware Bay. If you lose power during the strong winds, make sure you and your family stay hydrated, stay warm with wearing lots of layers and make sure to ventilate your space properly when using generators and heaters. Temperatures will fall into the single-digits by the middle of the morning and wind chills will be around negative 10 and negative 25 degrees all day. In conditions like this, exposed skin can freeze in less than 20 minutes. Then, on Sunday the bitter cold will continue but the winds gusts of 20 to 30 m.p.h. that will relax as the day goes on. Highs will be around 20 degrees with wind chills remaining at below zero despite a mostly sunny sky.
