SAN FRANCISCO (WISH) — Super Bowl LX, a match-up between the Patriots and the Seahawks. “I know the number one thing right now is we came out here for a reason,” Patriots quarterback Drake Maye said. “We came out here to win a football game and win the Super Bowl. And knowing that all my chips are going towards that.” “It’s a really good defense and something that we’re obviously going to continue to prepare for, but we’ll be ready by the time Sunday comes around,” Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold said. Sunday will be a re-match of Super Bowl XLIX where the Patriots won a thriller in the final seconds, and this time around the stakes are even higher as Drake Maye and the Patriots try to become the first team in NFL History to win seven Vince Lombardi trophies. “Coach Vrabel’s so great at hinting at the past, but not reliving it,” Maye said. “And being like, ‘Hey, we did it this way, this is how you should do it.’ He’s great at bringing back old memories, but at the same time, knowing that we’re a new team, new era, new type of Patriot team that we’re trying to build for a long time in the future.” Meanwhile, Darnold has the Seahawks back in the big game for the first time since 2015. “All the dedication and the hours I put in during the offseason, during the season, it leads to this moment,” Darnold said. “And that’s kind of the mindset I’ve had and really the mindset I’ve had my entire career.” Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is trying to become the first person in NFL history to win a Super Bowl as a player and coach with the same team. “This is what the expectation is,” Vrabel said. “And we understand that, we embrace that. For me, personally, I’ve been through this, I want the players to experience this with their families. I want them to experience this with their kids.” And just like Vrabel, the Seahawks Mike Macdonald could make some history as well on Sunday. A victory against the Patriots will make Macdonald the third youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl at the age of 38. “We’ve been able to win different ways and figure things out as games go,” Macdonald said. “That should give us a lot of confidence going into really any type of matchup.” Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. ...read more read less
