HARRODSBURG, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A man is dead following an early morning shooting in Harrodsburg, according to the Harrodsburg Police Department. Officers were sent around 5:15 a.m. Friday to a reported shooting at a home. When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot w ound. According to the Mercer County Coroner’s Office, he’s identified as 36-year-old Daniel “Danny” Hyatt, who’s originally from Lawrenceburg in Anderson County. The coroner told ABC 36 News Now Hyatt and the resident of the home were neighbors in Harrodsburg. Police say life-saving measures were attempted, but Hyatt died at the scene, according to the Mercer County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office confirmed to ABC 36 News Now that the incident began as an apparent home invasion. Investigators say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains active, and police say more details will be released as they become available.
