A lot of people, including somebody who came all the way from Mexico, showed up for the Bad Bunny look-alike contest in San Francisco Thursday night – but only one of them won. The contests took place at Tacolicious in San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood.More than 30 contestants were hoping to win the bad bunny look-alike contest, all of them sharing Benito’s love of rhythm and his colorful mashup of streetwear and tailoring. One by one, they danced, they sang and they performed some of Benito’s hits; in the end, the winner was a man named Abdul Bunny, who came all the way from Mexico for the competition and the $100 prize. “I feel so amazing, thanks to all people,” Bunny said. His inspiring music, infused with Puerto Rican culture is why Bad Bunny has gained a massive following. Ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl half time show, he appeared in San Francisco Thursday and talked about the meaning of his album Debí Tirar Mas Fotos, saying he wasn’t looking to perform at the halftime show when he made it. “I just was looking for connect with my roots, connect with my people more than ever, connect with myself, with my history,” he said. That representation was meaningful for many in San Francisco. “Right now, it feels historic but i think it’s gonna be a starting point for more of our representation,” Samantha Berlanga said.
