One South Dakota Lottery game will end later this month and a new one will take its place. Lottery Executive Director Norm Lingle says Lucky for Life sales will end after the Feb. 21, 2026, draw and will be replaced by the Millionaire for Life game. Those tickets will go on sale at South Dakota Lott ery retailers beginning Feb. 22. For $5 per ticket and with drawings held every night, Lingle says the new game offers a grand prize of $1 million a year for life and a second prize of $100,000 a year for life. He says the top prizes will be awarded as annual payments, guaranteed for at least 20 years. Players will also have the option of choosing a one-time cash option of $18 million for the top prize and $2.2 million for the second prize. The grand prize odds of 1 in 22.9 million are better than top prize odds in other national lottery games. The overall game odds are 1 in 8.46. In addition to giving players the opportunity at a life-changing prize, Millionaire for Life will also provide aid to the State of South Dakota. The state’s General Fund, which supports K-12 schools, state universities and technical institutes, receives 70 percent of net revenue from lotto games such as Millionaire for Life. The state’s Capital Construction Fund receives the remaining 30 percent. This supports the Water and Environment Fund, the Ethanol Fuel Fund and the State Highway Fund. Along with South Dakota, Millionaire for Life will be played in 28 other states and the District of Columbia.
