Remembering Lee Hamilton INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Gov. Mike Braun has ordered flags to fly at half-staff in memory of longtime Democratic Congressman Lee Hamilton. Hamilton, 94, died Wednesday at his home in Bloomington. The DePauw University graduate served 17 terms in the U.S. House of Re presentatives in Washington, D.C., and also served as co-chair of the commission that investigated the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Later, he and late Republican U.S. Sen. and former Indianapolis mayor Dick Lugar established the Hamilton-Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University’s Bloomington campus. Political analyst Kip Tew, former chair of the Indiana Democratic Party, was a longtime friend of Hamilton and calls him “arguably the state’s greatest public servant.” Hamilton’s family has not yet announced funeral arrangements.
