    (WCIV) — SLED is investigating an officer involved shooting Wednesday, following an incident that occurred on Feb. 1 in Orangeburg County. According to the statement from SLED, on the day of the incident deputies responded to a home on Neeses Highway after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival at the home, deputies encountered a man outside the residence who was armed with a rifle. During a conversation with the armed man, additional deputies arrived on scene to provide assistance. At some point during the encounter, SLED stated that deputies fired at the man, however no one was shot or injured. The suspect was taken into custody and SLED was requested to investigate the incident by the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office. This incident in Orangeburg County is the sixth officer involved shooting the South Carolina in 2026, and the first officer involved shooting for the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office this year.
