(KRON) -- KRON4 News is partnering with "Souper Bowl of Caring" for Super Bowl week to raise money for local food charities. The effort follows a successful "Table four All" telethon back in November, during which viewers donated more than $70,000 to organizations fighting hunger.
The Food Bank of
Contra Costa and Solano in Concord received more than $4,300 from the November fundraiser. The organization uses these donations to provide two meals to the community for every one dollar received.

Paula Fleeman is a volunteer at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano in Concord who spends four to five days a week sorting donated items. Fleeman has contributed more than 700 volunteer hours since retiring from her previous job at Costco.
"When I was working I used to work with the food bank," Fleeman said. "I worked for Costco and I was doing donations and I always said when I retire I'm going to work with the food bank so I came here for a bagging of produce and kind of fell in love with it, the people are always friendly."
Hailey Solares, advocacy and policy manager at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, explained that the financial support from the community is vital to their mission.
"For every one dollar donated we're able to provide two meals to the community," Solares said. "It shows the care, it shows that no one wants to see anybody go hungry. It shows that the neighbors care about each other and just spending your time here it's just a heartwarming thing knowing that you're providing food for the community."
Fleeman also assists with the direct distribution of the goods she processes.
"You're out of the pantry, you see the families, you see the kids that are coming in for the food and they're appreciative too so that's kind of the full circle you get to see where this stuff ends up and how it helps people," Fleeman said.
The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano seeks volunteers and donations year-round to support its ongoing operations.
