San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is taking steps to make Alamo City more cosmopolitan. On June 2, nonstop flights will begin to Mexico’s Querétaro International Airport (QRO) three days a week.The new route comes courtesy of ultra-low-cost carrier Volaris and will run every Tuesday, Thursd ay, and Sunday at 10:20 am. According to a release, its Airbus A320 family aircraft is among the “youngest and most efficient in the Americas.”“We’re excited to see expanded service to Mexico, a destination that continues to be one of the most important and in-demand markets for San Antonio travelers,” said Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports, City of San Antonio Aviation Department, in the release. “This expanded service offers greater convenience and reflects the strong demand we continue to see from our community.”Along with Volaris’ expanded service, Viva — another ultra-low-cost carrier — offers nonstop flights to Querétaro, bringing total nonstop service to the capital city to six days a week. “Increased connectivity to Mexico gives travelers flying out of SAT more convenient ways to visit family, do business, and explore new destinations in one of our key markets,” said Jacob Tyler, Air Service Administrator, City of San Antonio Aviation Department, in a statement. “We appreciate Volaris’ continued investment in our community as they help us grow service in destinations that matter to our region.”Recently, SAT has had a winning streak in scoring nonstop flights.
