Minor coastal flooding and dangerous beach conditions are expected around the Bay Area on Monday as warm, dry weather continues, according to the National Weather Service. In an advisory, forecasters said temperatures will remain above normal throughout the week, with little to no rain expected. The main concerns are tied to high tides and strong ocean conditions. Minor coastal flooding is expected Monday during the late morning high tide for low-lying bayshore areas along San Pablo Bay in the North Bay. Impacts could include flooding of parks, parking lots and some roads, with only isolated road closures expected, according to the NWS. At the San Francisco tidal gauge, the high tide is forecast to reach about 1 foot above normal around 11:12 a.m., with a small storm surge adding to water levels. Forecasters said the exact timing could vary by up to 90 minutes depending on location. At the coast, hazardous beach conditions are expected Monday and again from Thursday through Saturday. The weather service warned of an increased risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents, with breaking waves reaching 14 to 19 feet along Pacific Coast beaches from Sonoma County to Monterey County. Confidence in these hazards is moderate, forecasters said. Beachgoers are urged to use caution, stay well back from the water, and avoid climbing on rocks or jetties during the period of dangerous surf.
