And if you’re going into the ocean, do it in front of a lifeguard tower. Surf’s up, dude. The region’s nearly monthlong spell of unseasonably warm, dry weather wi ll be extended by a high-pressure system that will prevent storms from coming this way, says the National Weather Service. And weak-to-moderate Santa Ana winds will arrive from the Great Basin. The marine layer will be present early Monday in San Diego. But the daytime high is expected to reach 70, or 4 degrees above average. High pressure will then take hold, pushing the expected high to 75 on Tuesday, 83 on Wednesday, 77 on Thursday, and 72 on Friday. The daytime high in Escondido is expected to reach 75 on Monday, 80 on Tuesday, 85 on Wednesday, 81 on Thursday and 75. The seasonal high is in the 65-67 degree range. The Santa Ana winds, which cause many people to suffer sinus pain and headaches, are expected to blow on Wednesday and Thursday, with the highest gusts in the region’s backcountry. The weather service says that the warm spell hasn’t dried out vegetation, mostly because the county received heavy rain in late December and early January. No areas of the county are experiencing the kind of dryness that can start and feed wildfires, the National Drought Monitor says. On Tuesday, a swell out of the west will producing 3-to-6 foot waves at favored breaks, generating dangerous rip currents, forecasters say. At the moment, San Diego’s weather is a bit odd.
