SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A 15-year-old girl was killed, and two other young people were injured in a triple shooting Friday evening near a San Francisco playground. San Francisco police are currently searching for suspects in the shooting, which took place near the Margaret S. Hayward Playground. Co mmunity members held a vigil for the victim, identified by family as Jayda Mabrey, at the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Laguna Street. The memorial was held just steps from Jefferson Square Park at the location where Mabrey was last seen alive. The shooting occurred in an area described by residents as a place intended for children and families. Along with the death of Mabrey, two other young people were injured during the gunfire. Deshon, Mabrey's cousin, spoke during the gathering about the emotional toll the event has taken on their family. Deshon emphasized that the community needs to address the ongoing issue of local violence. "The gang violence does need to stop, you see it everyday but then when it happens to you and its your family, you see the actual outcome and the actual feelings," Deshon said. According to Deshon, Mabrey's younger sister was present at the playground and held the victim during the shooting. "My little cousin was also there, her little sister, she held her as the bullets were in her body, she seen her sister turning purple," Deshon said. Despite the tragedy, Deshon said he was grateful for the support shown by those who attended the vigil. "To see people out here was really much appreciated and I feel really heart warmed the community came together even though most people don't even know my cousin," Deshon said.
