“Anima,” a three-part show which premiered at the Nimbus Arts Center (329 Warren St.) on Friday night, was a swan dive into the turbulent waters at the deep end of the pool. Here was Nimbus in the raw: pure, sinewy, expertly executed modern dance, done to a Qasim Naqvi score heavy with percussiv e violin passages, note clusters and dissonances, and long repetitive phrases. Without a backbeat, or a linear narrative, or a conventional score, artistic director and choreographer Samuel Pott leaned on the expressive capabilities of the dancers and the stark, painterly, and occasionally chilling light design by Michael Lupino to ring the alarm about our teetering biosphere.
