CHARLOTTE, NC — Saturday’s snow is something many of us haven’t seen in quite a while. For some, it’s a perfect reason to stay inside and catch up on their favorite Netflix shows. For others, it was the winter wonderland they have been dreaming of. Not long after the snow started falling here in Latta Park, families could be seen carrying their sleds to the hills. “It’s like a winter wonderland right here and it’s just rare,” said Dilworth resident, Candice Bui. Even Governor Stein encouraged hitting the hills. That was his message on Thursday. “It’s not sleet. It’s not freezing rain,  so use this as an opportunity to remind yourself how to sled,” said Stein. Blackhawk Hardware in the Park Road Shopping Center told us they sold out of 500 sleds by Tuesday. Finding a sled this week in the hardware stores was like finding a pot of gold. That meant some had to improvise. From laundry baskets to lids to even Amazon cardboard boxes, kids did whatever they could to enjoy the snow. “We didn’t have a sled at home, so my wife, uh, wrapped, uh, some Amazon boxes and some trash bags,” said David Warren. Of course, the snow provides more fun than just going down the hills. “I like how you can make snow angels and sled and taste it.
