CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers extend their current win streak to three taking down the Chamberlain Cubs 64-20. Another masterclass in smothering defense and great offense for a team that had picked back up on momentum as they advanced to 9-3 on their season. In a game like t his everyone on the Lady Tigers roster deserves a shout out but a few players really stepped up in this one and it was a lot of the bench players. Shayla Rath had one of her best performances of the season, Jersey Frederick had her second straight game of looking really dominant getting rebound down low. Standing out in this game though, stepping up at the end of the first half and a lot of the second half was Pacey Konold. Konold’s defense has been utilized all season but today it was more of her offense that we got to see, especially at the end of the second quarter making her the Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game. The first quarter of this one got started very similarly to the first quarter in their last time out against Todd County as Blake Thompson got firing early making a couple of quick threes. The rest of the starters got involved scoring too as Mobridge-Pollock quickly built a 20 point lead holding Chamberlain off the scoreboard for the entire first quarter. Into the second quarter once the Lady Tigers dropped their press the Cubs broke their way onto the scoreboard but at that point the lead was too big to overcome. In the second half, a lot of big bench minutes for the Lady Tigers with everyone on the roster getting involved as they were able to hold on for the 44 point win, 64-20. In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will be back home for another double header to take on Belle Fourche Tuesday, February 5 with tipoff for game one scheduled for around 5:00 p.m. — — — — — — — — — — — — — CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers took a heartbreaking buzzer beater loss to the Chamberlain Cubs 52-50. This game was close throughout with neither team leading by double digits the entire day, but Chamberlain came out on top as the Tigers drop to 6-4 on the season. In a game this closely contested we saw many strong performances throughout. Starting with the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers Kale Knudson had another strong game being decisive with his shots selection late, and Easton Eisemann almost single handedly got the Tigers into overtime with his steal and three pointer to tie the game. For Chamberlain, Riddik Big Eagle, and Miles Thompson both played incredibly throughout the game on both sides of the ball. Coming into the game the big story for Chamberlain was that they had some winnable games this season that they had not finished well and with a finish like that DJ DeSloover gets the Cubs a massive win and is the Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game.  The first half of this game was a back in fourth that got started defensively with both teams trying to push the pace against each other, and struggling to make shots fall. Mobridge-Pollock began building a lead and led by six at the end of the first quarter, but Chamberlain would not let them pull away, tying the game up at 23 going into halftime. Into the second half Mobridge-Pollock again built up a lead going up by as many as nine points in the third quarter but Chamberlain fought back taking their own lead with 1:40 left to play in the fourth quarter. Mobridge-Pollock found themselves down by six late, but Kale Knudson drove inside and drew contact on a shot, setting up a traditional three point play. On the next Chamberlain possession Easton Eisemann got a steal and made a three going back the other way to tie the game with 19.8 seconds left in regulation. Mobridge-Pollock was thinking overtime but DJ DeSloover had other ideas putting up one last shot at the buzzer which fell giving Chamberlain the 52-50 win. In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will be in Madison for a rematch against Dell Rapids Saturday, January 31 with an estimated tipoff scheduled around 5:00 p.m. ...read more read less
