The excitement is building across the Bay Area as Super Bowl week gets ready to kickoff in a matter of days. At Fisherman’s Wharf, businesses are preparing for an influx of customers with Super Bowl week just around the corner. “I’m very excited, I feel like the city is still climbing ou t of covid, so it will be a good stop before Spring Break comes, people enjoy our beautiful city,” said Don McFarland, owner of Sabella and La Torree. McFarland says he’s expecting business at the seafood restaurant to more than double next week and may even stay open later to accommodate more customers. “Next week we’ve double our staff, crab season is in its third week, buying plenty of crab each day,” he said. “One of the hot items is the unicorn, believe it or not one of the first things to sell out every year,” said Eric Peck, NFL Store shop manager. Peck will be managing the NFL Store shop near the Fisherman’s Wharf promenade and is excited for the week ahead. “This is the fun time when the grind time is, this is the fun time seeing the people,” he said. And the crowds heading to the wharf in the coming days will be coming from the Moscone Center, where setup is taking place both outside and inside for the NFL Super Bowl Experience. Inside, crews are transforming the convention center halls into the ultimate NFL experience for fans. This will include countless exhibits teaching the history of the NFL, an aqua blue miniature field for young fans to take part in football clinics and an indoor playing field is being assembled for the league’s annual Pro Bowl. Doors open for the experience on Tuesday and NFL officials are encouraging Bay Area fans to visit earlier in the week. “It’s really meant for those in the bay to come early, because by the time we get to Friday or Saturday, it’s going to be taken over by Seahawks and Patriots fans,” said The Super Bowl Experience begins on Tuesday, and tickets earlier in the week start at $40.
