Dallas Police say they’ve made several arrests while investigating hundreds of reports of gunfire on New Year’s Eve. The department said the arrests are connected to gunfire along the Interstate 30 bridge that was captured in a widely circulated video. As the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve in Dallas, social media videos released by Dallas Police tell the story of a terrifying tirade along I-30 on the packed Margaret McDermott Bridge. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux says the viral moment had him fired up. “Look, I wasn’t happy. I was not happy. I started seeing the videos, on Instagram of all places and it aggravated me,” Comeaux said. The videos also show the suspects proudly posing with AR-15’s and firing from a car window. 20-year-old Anthony Acevedo and 18-year-old Jose Alarcon-Sanchez, both from Grand Prairie, once smiling for social media recently posed for mug shots behind bars. Both now face a Discharge of a Firearm in Certain Municipalities charge.  “Those rounds go somewhere, so that’s why it’s extremely important when you see that type of behavior to call 911 and let us know so we can get up there and stop it immediately,” Deputy Chief William Griffith, Commander for the Criminal Investigations Group with DPD said. Dallas Police say they recovered more than 100 spent shell casings near the bridge. Grand Prairie police arrested Alarcon-Sanchez on New Year’s Day for more random gunfire. Video analysis also helped investigators identify and arrest Anderson Derce Lara who now faces six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after investigators say he fired into a car in Dallas with three children in November. “If you bring this type of stuff to Dallas, we’re going to work out butts off to put you in jail just like these guys,” Comeaux said. A search warrant at Alarcon-Sanchez’s home turned up five weapons including AR-15 style rifles and handguns. Both Alarcon-Sanchez and Derce Lara have immigration holds while Acevado has been released on bond.
