Johnson County breaks ground on new Indiana DNR headquarters NINEVEH, Ind. (WISH) — Gov. Mike Braun on Thursday joined a group of people to break ground in southern Johnson County on a new headquarters for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement District 6. The $800,000 project was designed to support conservation officers across nine central Indiana counties — Bartholomew, Brown, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Monroe, Morgan, and Shelby — while achieving cost savings through interagency collaboration. The new facility will be at 6248 S. Schoolhouse Road, which sits on the north end of the Johnson County Park and just north of the Indiana National Guard’s Camp Atterbury. When completed, the facility will support 23 field conservation officers and staff members. It will feature dedicated evidence storage rooms, training spaces, and storage for district equipment. The building will also include updated audio-visual and technology required for daily law enforcement operations. The facility will replace temporary trailers that have served as the district headquarters since 2016. Indiana Department of Correction prisoners will provide labor for the project. The Indiana Department of Administration provided architectural designs. This story was formatted for WISHTV.com using AI-assisted tools.
