More than 50,000 northern Louisiana households and businesses remained without power Jan. 29 following Winter Storm Fern with some customers now not expected to have electricity restored until Jan. 31.
The bulk of those outages (50,206) are Entergy customers concentrated in northeastern Louisiana and the regional hub of Ouachita Parish, where about 33,000 customers remained without power Thursday morning. Entergy estimates most restoration for Ouachita to be complete Saturday, Jan. 31.
Other Entergy parishes with at least 1,000 customer outages Thursday morning and their estimated restoration times include: Bienville (Thursday); Caldwell (Friday); East Carroll (Saturday); Jackson (Saturday); Madison (Saturday); Morehouse (Saturday); Richland (Saturday); West Carroll (Saturday); and Winn (Saturday).
Of those parishes, Richland has the most outages with almost 3,000. Richland Parish is the location of the $27 billion Meta data center project.
In northwestern Louisiana, DeSoto is the only parish with more than 1,000 outages. DeSoto is served by SWEPCO.
Gov. Jeff Landry, who surveyed the northeastern Louisiana damage Tuesday, said he has requested a federal disaster declaration to help fund the recovery effort.
Louisiana has confirmed eight storm-related deaths from Winter Storm Fern.
