CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Heavy ice is still affecting many areas as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) works to clear roadways after the winter storm.  Virginia State Police (VSP) released the final number of crashes on Monday, Jan. 27, with 506 total crashes across the Co mmonwealth, including 38 crashes with injuries. Officials said Central Virginia accounted for 108 of those crashes. VDOT has done a lot of work in the past few days to clear the main roads, but some secondary roads, neighborhoods and backroads still have ice. VDOT still working to clear neighborhood roads after snow and sleet Officials are asking for patience as they work to get to every area that needs road treatment. They’re also asking people to stay home if they don’t need to be outside. Drivers who decide to get on the road must proceed with caution.
