LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington city offices not involved in winter weather response will remain closed Tuesday, Jan. 27, as dangerously cold temperatures continue across the region. Mayor Linda Gorton said the extreme cold is slowing recovery efforts following the winter storm and th anked residents for helping keep roads safer by limiting travel. “Bitter cold temperatures continue, slowing our recovery from this storm,” Gorton said. “Lexington residents continue to help by staying off the streets. They have made a huge difference, keeping our streets safer. City employees also need to stay off the roads.” City leaders say crews will remain focused on winter weather response and road clearing while conditions improve. Residents are encouraged to continue checking official city updates for service changes and safety information. According to the city, garbage collection Tuesday is suspended. The city says decisions on that will be announced each day.
