Reports filed with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) show that the Leon County School Board has added 47 School Administrator positions over a 6-year period while the number of students declined and the number of teachers were reduced. This information comes amid a debate about how to ad dress the financial struggles of the school district. The Numbers From 2018-219 to 2024-25, records show that the number of School Administrators increased by 28%, from 170 to 217. The 47 positions added during this period included: – 24 Administrator Managers– 13 Assistant Principals– 6 Deans/Curriculum Coordinators/Registrar– 4 Consultants/ Supervisors of Instruction As administrator positions were being added during this period, the number of students dropped by approximately 8%, from 33,543 in 2018 to 29,990 in 2024. In addition, the number of teachers decreased from 2,070 in 2018 to 1,772 in 2024. During this period, the “School Administration” budget line item increased by $23% or $4.7 million, from $20.4 million to $25.1 million.
