What to KnowThe Philadelphia region, surrounding Pennsylvania suburbs, South Jersey and Delaware are getting hit with what is shaping up to be the biggest snowstorm in years.A FIRST ALERT is in effect through midnight on Monday for Philadelphia, the surrounding Pennsylvania suburbs, South Jersey and Delaware due to an arctic blast, heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain.A prolonged period of freezing rain and sleet will continue through Sunday night that could cause dangerous road conditions and power outages. The system is expected to move out around 9 p.m. on Sunday.The Philadelphia region and surrounding suburbs were expected to get 8 to 12 inches of snow, the Lehigh Valley is expected to get 12 to 18 inches of snow, South Jersey is expected to get 5 to 8 inches of snow and coastal Delaware and the Jersey Shore are expected to get 3 to 5 inches of snow.People are being urged to avoid unnecessary travel at this time and if they do have to go on the roadways, they are being urged to do so with extra caution.
