Fort Wayne Warming Center Options
Jan 23, 2026
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — Fort Wayne’s Winter Contingency Plan is once again in effect, offering expanded shelter and warming options for people in need during the colder months.
The plan’s overnight shelter services will operate from Dec. 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026. Warming stations may
open earlier if weather conditions warrant.
People seeking overnight shelter have three primary options: The Rescue Mission at 404 E. Washington Blvd.; St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter at 3505 Lake Ave.; and Just Neighbors at 2925 E. State Blvd.
In addition, The Salvation Army will provide overnight shelter for individuals who are unable to access the other shelters once capacity has been reached. The service is primarily for women and children but will also accommodate men who are part of a family unit.
City officials encourage those in need of shelter to seek assistance early, particularly during periods of extreme cold.
