Olympic Swim Pool Project Promises $21 Million Annually in New Haven
Jan 22, 2026
NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO) Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness presented a proposal to the New Haven City Council this week to relocate an Olympic-sized swimming pool to the city. The pool was purchased following the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swim Trials.
If the project moves forward, it could create more than 250 j
obs and generate approximately $21 million in annual economic activity. Funding for the project would come entirely from donations and grants, with no taxpayer money required.
City leaders would need to establish a formal partnership with Fort Wayne Swim and Wellness, create a committee to oversee the project, and present the proposal to the public for input.
Supporters say the project could not only bring economic benefits but also enhance community wellness and provide a high-level training facility for swimmers in the region.
