The Washington Post: FBI probing Jim Irsay death
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The FBI is investigating the death of Jim Irsay, former owner of the Indianapolis Colts, according to The Washington Post. The investigation includes inquiries into the addiction doctor who treated Irsay prior to his death
in May.
Federal agents visited Indianapolis for several days this month and interviewed individuals close to Irsay. The investigation aims to assess various factors surrounding Irsay’s passing.
On May 12, Irsay died in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Harry Haroutunian, the addiction doctor who treated him during his final months, also signed Irsay’s death certificate, listing the cause of death as cardiac arrest due to pneumonia and heart issues.
The inquiry into Irsay’s death comes as details regarding his treatment and conditions leading up to his passing are being scrutinized.
News 8 reached out to Colts’ Vice President of Communications Steve Campbell. He said in a statement, “We are aware of the investigation, but at this time, we’ve not been contacted by the FBI or been served with any subpoenas.”
News 8 also reached out to FBI’s Indianapolis Division and received this statement:
“As a matter of policy, the FBI does not confirm or deny the existence of federal investigations.”
As the FBI continues its investigation, further updates are expected regarding the findings related to Irsay and the circumstances of his death. There are no specific timelines for when the investigation will conclude.
