1 dead after fiery crash involving semis near Oklahoma state line

A tractor-truck driver is dead after a head-on collision with another big rig in Baca County near the Oklahoma state line, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday along Highway 287, State Patrol announced in a Thursday news release. Initial findings in
dicate a tractor trailer was driving south and crossed over the center line of the road, striking a semi-truck.
The tractor trailer continued along its path of travel and came to rest in the southbound lane before being “fully” engulfed in flames, State Patrol reported. The other semi stopped along the right side of the road, with its driver uninjured.

A third semi-truck that was also traveling southbound swerved off the road and hit a barbed wire fence before coming to a stop.
The man driving the southbound tractor trailer was pronounced dead on scene, State Patrol said.
The road was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene, eventually reopening at 8:50 a.m.
State Patrol is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call 719-544-2424.
