SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Three out of the 10 fastest growing jobs in San Francisco involve artificial intelligence, according to data compiled by LinkedIn. Those are the findings of the job networking site's latest "Jobs on the Rise" list for the City by the Bay.

g roles across 10 major U.S. metropolitan area annually. The lists, according to LinkedIn, "highlight where opportunity exists now and surface the trends shaping each city's workforce."
For San Francisco, that trend is apparently AI.
"AI roles like AI engineers and AI/ML researchers reinforce the city's reputation as an innovation hub," LinkedIn said in its report. Meanwhile, the list said other roles on the rise include business development executives and business operation managers, "reflecting a focus on revenue growth and streamlined enterprise operations."

1. AI engineers
AI engineers, according to LinkedIn, "develop and implement AI models that perform complex tasks typically requiring human decision-making, like problem-solving and prediction." Skills possessed by AI engineers include Large Language Models (LLM), Machine Learning and LangChain.
The most common industries for AI engineers are technology and internet, IT services and IT consulting, and computers and electronics manufacturing.
2. AI consultants and strategists
AI consultants and strategists "guide organizations in planning and adopting AI technologies to improve operational processes and achieve company goals," LinkedIn said. The most common industries they work in are technology and internet, IT services and IT consulting, and research services.
Common skills for AI consultants and strategists include LLM, machine learning and generative AI.
3. Law professor
Law professors teach and mentor law students "while helping advance the field through legal scholarship and research," LinkedIn said. Common skills for this profession include legal writing, litigation and legal research.
They commonly work in industries such as legal services and higher education.
4. AI/ML researchers
LinkedIn says that artificial intelligence/machine language researchers "design and test new models and algorithms, using the results to improve AI systems." Common skills for this job include machine learning, deep learning, and Python (programming language).

5. Social services director
Social services directors oversee social services programs and operations, "coordinating teams and resources to deliver effective support to clients and communities," LinkedIn said. Common skills include case management, program development, and crisis intervention.

6. Founders
Founders, according to LinkedIn, "turn ideas into viable businesses by setting strategy, securing resources and leading early execution." Common skills for founders include digital marketing, startup leadership, and product marketing.

7. Legal researchers
Legal researchers, according to LinkedIn, "gather and analyze legal information." This includes statutes, regulations and cases -- in order to support litigation, policy and advisory work for legal teams. Most common skills for this job include legal research, legal writing, and litigation.

8. Medical sales representatives

Methodology
LinkedIn examined millions of jobs started by LinkedIn members between Jan. 1, 2023, and July 31, 2025, and used the data to calculate the growth rate for each job title.
