IMPD arrests 19-year-old man for New Year’s Eve fatal shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 19-year-old man has been arrested for the December murder of an 18-year-old, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

n an active murder warrant for his alleged involvement in the December murder of 18-year-old Aaron Reid Jr.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 2:50 a.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Willowood Drive on a report of a person shot. That is a residential area near 38th Street and North German Church Road on the far east side of Indianapolis. Officers arrived, and found Reid Jr. and a 17-year-old boy both suffering from gunshot wounds. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services transported them to an area hospital.
Reid Jr. was pronounced dead the next day. The 17-year-old was listed in stable condition after being grazed by a bullet.
IMPD Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation. Detectives searched the area for video footage, witnesses, and potential forensic evidence. Over the course of several days, detectives followed up on multiple leads and identified Harvey as the suspect in this case.
On Tuesday, IMPD Violent Crimes Unit detectives, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Marion Police Department, located Harvey in Marion, Indiana, and took him into custody without incident.
