Indy woman charged with threatening to kill U.S. representative INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis woman pleaded guilty Wednesday for threatening to kill a U.S. lawmaker, U.S. Attorney’s Office of Southern District of Indiana said in a release Wednesday. She’s agreed to plead guilty to two counts of influencing a federal official by threat, which are each punishable by a maximum sentence of 10 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and 3 years ofsupervised release following any term of imprisonment. According to court documents, at 8:53 a.m. Jan. 15, 2025 28-year-old Shalya Addison sent five text messages to the campaign phone number of the representative, who’s name has not been released. The messages included explicit threats to kill them, including statements such as “Come outside b**** we’ll kill you” and “Tread lightly.” Minutes later, Addison sent additional messages to the representative’s campaign email address, again threatening to kill them. “We will kill you and blow that whole building up b**** come outside.” Addison said. Addison has two prior convictions in Hendricks County from March 2020. One being misdemeanor intimidation, where she threatened in retaliation for a prior lawful act. The other is a misdemeanor invasion of privacy for violating a no contact order. The plea deal obtained by News 8 says the parties have not agreed upon a specific sentence, but the government “has agreed to recommend a sentence at the low end of the Guideline range calculated by the Court at sentencing.”  At this time, a sentencing hearing date has not been scheduled. ...read more read less
