SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Days before Bad Bunny is set to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, a look-alike contest dedicated to the Puerto Rican superstar is taking place in San Francisco. The event, which is set for Thursday, Feb. 5, is being put on by Mission Loteria, a community group that suppo rts small businesses in SF's Mission District. "From trap vibes to tropical looks, we're calling all Benito fans to bring the fits, the energy, and the sass," the event's Eventbrite page reads. The contest, which is being held at Tacolicious, a Valencia Street taqueria and cantina, starts at 5:30 p.m. On-site registration begins at 5 p.m. Following the contest, a "full Bad Bunny Night takeover" will be held inside the restaurant from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Girls treated like ‘objects’ at Los Gatos ‘Party Mom’s’ mansion, witness testifies The event will feature a "Bad Bunny-themed" menu for food and drink. For the winners, prizes include $100 cash, a Tacolicious gift card and "bragging rights," according to the contest's Eventbrite page. Think you've got the right look? "Just show up in your best Bad Bunny-inspired look and register for the contest when doors open at 5 p.m. No cover, no pressure -- just pure perreo," the contest page says. The event is free to attend and if you don't want to enter, Mission Loteria is inviting guests to come anyway, "Cheer on contestants, play Loteria, sip a Benito Margarita and soak up the energy of this one-night only Tacolicious x Mission Loteria event." Height requirement for Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show field cast stirs controversy Bad Bunny, who was born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, was announced as the Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner back in September. The announcement that a predominantly Spanish-speaking artist would be headlining America's most-watched televised musical event was met with a divided reaction. "Let's gooooooo! We can't wait to host Bad Bunny here in the South Bay for Superbowl 2026," tweeted San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan at the time. "California is excited to welcome you to Super Bowl LX," tweeted Gov. Gavin Newsom in response. But many MAGA influencers were quick to push back. Ryan Fournier, chair of Students for Trump, said “whoever picks these people should be fired.” Conservative podcaster Benny Johnson called Bad Bunny a “massive Trump hater” and “anti-ICE activist,” and criticized that he doesn’t have songs in English.
