The $160,000 project is expected to create 38 job opportunities in the Bayou Region, including 14 direct positions and 24 additional indirect roles, Louisiana Economic Development estimates. The Morgan City site, located at 146 Taylor Road, will serve as the primary production and testing hub for Viking Attachments’ VMV Series vibratory pile drivers, which are used in marine and infrastructure construction projects. The facility will handle engineering, welding, assembly, painting, testing, spare-parts warehousing, and a demonstration fleet, enhancing production capacity and service response. Construction is scheduled for completion by March 2026. Founder and CEO James “Jim” Duhon said the expansion is both a strategic supply chain decision and a commitment to the local community. “By building our pile drivers in Louisiana, we can create local jobs, accelerate parts and service response, and honor the civic service of my father Gary Duhon and my grandfather Loylis ‘T Shoo’ Duhon,” he said. Viking Attachments, founded in 2019 by Duhon, began pilot production of the VMV Series in 2025 and has completed initial sales. The company’s expansion reflects its growth from early-stage operations to full-scale manufacturing for national customers. State and local officials highlighted the regional economic benefits of the project. “Viking Attachments’ decision to grow its manufacturing footprint in Morgan City underscores Louisiana’s ability to turn innovation into production,” LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois said. St. Mary Parish President Sam Jones called the expansion “proof of the capabilities and expertise local businesses bring to the table,” while St. Mary Economic Development Director Evan Boudreaux said it would provide high-quality jobs and strengthen the local economy. The state offered Viking Attachments a competitive incentives package, including workforce development support through LED FastStart. Christy Zeringue, president and CEO of COLAB, noted the project supports continued economic momentum in the Bayou Region. ...read more read less
