A 21-year-old Arizona man was killed Saturday while walking onto a highway in El Cajon, authorities said. The fatal crash happened around 1:20 a.m., when the pedestrian walked in front of a 2021 Toyota Venza driven by a 49-year-old man who was going westbound on Interstate 8, according to the Califo rnia Highway Patrol. The victim was coming from Mollison Avenue, CHP officials said. CHP officials said that “for reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian was walking within the roadway, in low-lighting, and the driver of the Toyota collided with the pedestrian.” The victim, a resident of Kaibeto in the northeastern corner of Arizona, died at the scene.
