Mark Cuban talks ahead of CFP National Championship in Miami MIAMI, Fla. (WISH) — Famous Indiana University alum Mark Cuban joined Sports Director Anthony Calhoun live on All ACcess Indy: Championship Game ahead of the National Championship between the Hoosiers and Miami Hurricanes. Cuban talked about how unbelievable this season has been for his alma mater. “Never in anybody’s wildest dreams did we think we’d be here,” Cuban said. “It’s special… The energy is through the roof.” Cuban also talked about what he likes from Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti. “He’s always prepared,” Cuban said. “He’s always trying to learn. He pays attention to detail, but he also is strategic and tactical. He figured out before anybody else, him and Scott Dolson, that you can’t developing guys over four years. You need guys who can walk in, play one year. You need coaches who can work with guys. They had to have high basketball, football IQs, and they had to really realize that they had to know their roles and play their roles.” Cuban commented on how he’s been a big financial donor to the university and its athletics. “I don’t care what I give to the university. As long as they’re working hard and they’re putting these kids in the right direction, that’s what it’s all about. But I know it’s got to make you feel good to see what you’ve done for this university and just kind of help out in any way you possibly can,” Cuban said. Cuban said nothing compares to the Hoosiers in the national championship. “There’s no better feeling,” Cuban said. “I’ve been in a lot of special circumstances and unique circumstances. This is way up there, right? Because when you’re the underdog and everybody just, it’s like when I bought the Mavericks, we hadn’t done anything, won anything in decades. And when we turned it around, it was special. And here, the worst college football program in the history, that is the ultimate underdog story. And who can’t love that, right?” And so to see Coach Sieg become part of it, his progression, I mean, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, James Madison’s picture, it’s everywhere he goes, he wins. That tells you he knows exactly what he’s doing.” ...read more read less
