Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off with All Western Parade

23 days of all things western kicked off on Saturday with the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo’s All Western Parade.
Parade-goers were met at the 11 a.m. start time with plunging temperatures.
Some, like Buzz Buswell and Stephanie Pointer, were prepared.
“I’m wearing quite a few [laye
rs],” Pointer said. “It was such a great week this week and then we get an arctic front that blows in the day that we’re going to be outside.”
They braved the cold to support their son, who was performing with Benbrook’s marching band.
“We’re here to have fun! And enjoy it!” Pointer said.
Her two girls, Lily and Ella, weren’t as prepared– but said the cold was still worth the show.
“It’s really cold, but it’s really nice to watch a parade,” Ella said.
“I definitely was not prepared but I did like to see all the horses,” Lily said.
Sarahy Rodriguez was also there to support a family member.
“I’m with my cousin from Mexico, he came to play out here,” she said. “I was debating it if I wanted to go or not because it was really cold outside.”
Vivian Guajardo didn’t want to miss the opportunity to be with her grandson, though they were shivering as they watched the parade.
“Well, this is the first time I was able to bring my grandson out here,” Guajardo said.
Ivone Rangel and her partner said they did not know it would be this cold when they drove over from Houston.
“We just happened to pack a little—a few extra layers, which was a good thing we did,” Rangel said.
But she said they weren’t going to let the temperatures ruin her birthday trip.
“We’re going to take advantage of it,” she said.
“I woke up this morning and I said, ‘You know what? I got my cowboy hat on, so I’m going to go out and enjoy it, regardless of the weather,” said Damon Broome, experiencing the parade for the first time.
