Henrico man sentenced to 13 years in prison for possessing gun as felon

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Henrico County man was sentenced on Thursday to 13 years in prison for possessing a gun as a felon.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, 44-year-old Dwayne Leman Swinson, reportedly known as "Weezy," was driving a vehicle on J
an. 11, 2024, with 13.98 grams of fentanyl and three guns.
Officials said one of the guns was loaded with 78 rounds of ammunition and another was equipped with a 30-round magazine.
Swanson's DNA was reportedly found on the drugs, two of the guns and the drum magazine of the third firearm.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said Swanson has eight prior felony convictions, three of which reportedly involve narcotics distribution or firearms offenses.
As a previously convicted felon, Swinson cannot legally possess firearms or ammunition
On Thursday, Jan. 15, Swanson was sentenced to 13 years in prison for illegally possessing a gun as a felon.
The FBI and the Richmond Police Department reportedly investigated Swanson's case.
