MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers got a record win last night, taking down Crow Creek 98-29 setting the all time scoring record for Mobridge-Pollock girls basketball. In their first game action in a week since their win against Miller the Lady Tigers didn’t waste any time as they could not be stopped advancing to 6-2 on their season. In a game like this when you put up that many points every Lady Tiger was involved on the score sheet, but two performances really stood out. First Blake Thompson who reached an incredible milestone in her high school career surpassing 1,000 career points in the win. An accomplishment like this shows extreme dedication, and skill throughout her entire career hitting a mark that most never will at the high school level. The other great performance in this game came from the newcomer to the varsity lineup this season Layna LeBeaux. LeBeaux was monumental in helping the Lady Tigers break the team scoring record and was unstoppable in the second half all over the court making her our Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game. Quarter number one got started the way we’ve almost become accustomed too when the Lady Tigers played at home, as they got off quickly to a lead with stifling full court defense. In the second quarter more of the same as Mobridge-Pollock was able to shut down Crow Creek’s offense and the Lady Tigers were rolling on offense with Blake Thompson, Brooke Bain, and Tegan Konold all having a good shooting day. Into the second half we started to see more of the bench from this Lady Tiger squad and they took advantage with Layna LeBeaux, Cheyenne Rath, and Jayda Thompson heating up in the winning effort. The Lady Tiger ran short on time to try for triple digits but still an incredible win 98-29 for a team that just would not slow down. In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will take on Lyman at the Corn Palace for the Hanson Classic Saturday, January 17 with tipoff scheduled around 2:30 p.m. — — — — — — — — — — — — — MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers pick up their second straight win taking down Crow Creek 56-31. The Tigers led from beginning to end in this one getting everyone involved to advance to 6-3 on the season. In a game like this everybody got involved with the starters only playing the full first quarter and about half of the second and third quarters. Of course another good day for those five but it was some of the bench players who really came in and impressed in this game. Dylan Fjeldheim and Trayden Stambach both looked good in their minutes for this game, but Trueth Crow Ghost really shined as a true leader among the bench players. Even though he’s played that sixth man role all season Trueth Crow Ghost has contributed in every game and showed his leadership in this one in the second half making home the Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game in this win.  This game got started with a Tiger lead which they would not give up the rest of the game. The transition was working early with all five starters finding early success. As the lead expanded for the Tigers, coach Knudson began going to his bench more, leading to valuable experience for those guys who maintained the momentum from the starters as the Tigers continued to roll. In the end the Tigers defense would not let up with everyone stifling Crow Creek wherever they tried to get open looks leading to the Tigers earning their second straight win this time 56-31 over Crow Creek. In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will be back at home taking on Aberdeen Christian Thursday, January 22 with an estimated tipoff scheduled around 6:30 p.m. ...read more read less
