Two wanted, one arrested after toddler dies due to drug toxicity in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One woman was arrested and two other people are wanted in connection with the death of a toddler due to drug toxicity in June 2025.
At 11:15 p.m. on June 3, 2025, officers with the Henrico County Police Division responded to the 5400 block of Williamsburg Road for a re
ported medical emergency.
When officers arrived, they found a 3-year-old girl who was unconscious and not breathing.
Officers immediately began providing life-saving measures until Henrico County Division of Fire crews arrived. The toddler died at the scene, police said.
According to officials, Henrico detectives have worked with several agencies over the last six months to investigate this case, including Child Protective Services, the Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
In September 2025, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that the toddler's death was a homicide due to drug toxicity.
On Monday, Jan. 12, a Henrico County grand jury issued criminal indictments for the following people, each from the county:
41-year-old Tomeka Nicole Burton
42-year-old Harvey Joe Turner, III
19-year-old Jomaya Ciara Hunt
Police said Burton was arrested following the grand jury hearing.
Burton and Turner each reportedly face indictments of felony murder, two counts of child abuse, two counts of child endangerment and possession of a schedule I or II drug.
Officials said Hunt faces indictments of two counts of child abuse.
As of reporting, Turner and Hunt are currently wanted. A photo of Turner is included below. However, there is no photo available of Hunt at this time, police said.
