INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’ll track snow into our Friday morning before a renewed shot of arctic air takes us into bitter territory into early next week.
Thursday night: Snow will slide into the state mainly after midnight. Th
is could lead to a slower Friday morning commute with some slick travel.
Snow totals from a half-inch to an inch are possible through daybreak Friday in central Indiana.
Lows will be in the low to mid 20s at midnight Thursday with temperatures gradually rising through the overnight hours.
Friday: A break from the snow looks to emerge closer to mid-morning into the afternoon in central Indiana. Then, the back side of the system will roll in with some rain mixing in with snow to start mainly south of Indianapolis. Spotty to scattered snow showers are possible into the evening and night, with locally heavier bursts not out of the question.
If locally heavier bursts get going, an additional half inch to an inch of snow could happen to make locally higher totals possible within the forecast for Thursday night through all of Friday.
It will be a warmer day overall with breezy winds that contain gusts from 25-30 mph at times. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s.
Saturday: It won’t take long for temperatures to retreat. Highs will be in the mid to upper 20s with breezy winds. Don’t rule out some stray snow showers, but a mainly dry day is anticipated.
7-Day Forecast: By Sunday morning, we’ll trend back toward widespread single-digit wind chills with some subzero values possible. Sunday as a whole will be even colder with highs only in the low 20s. Monday and Tuesday will especially be bitter with highs in the upper teens to low 20s, single-digits lows, and subzero wind chills at times. We’ll try to warm back into the 30s by Wednesday.
