San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie delivers first State of the City address
Jan 15, 2026
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie will make his first State of the City speech Thursday morning.
A year ago, the mayor said San Francisco was on its way back up. Leading up to today, Lurie has said the city is on the rise.
A lot has happened in the past year, starting with Lurie’s declaration
of state of emergency because of fentanyl.
The mayor also named a new police chief, a new fire chief and appointed two new supervisors, both in District 4.
The mayor has also touted the return of businesses to Union Square, with crime down 40 percent in that area and down 30 percent across the city.
Lurie was sworn in as San Francisco’s 46th mayor in January 2025. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will be livestreamed in the video player above and at SFGovTV’s YouTube page.
