The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has restored a $499,000 federal grant operated by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government that pays for Narcan supplies and the salaries of two employees who help distribute it. The funding was terminated late Tuesday by S AMHSA. The government received an email from SAMHSA this morning stating, “Your award will remain active under its original terms and conditions.” “This is good news. This funding saves lives,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “We greatly appreciate the restoration of the funding.” Grant funding is principally used to purchase Narcan – approximately 8,000 doses.
