An upstate New York man already serving time for fatally strangling a 32‑year‑old mother of two has been sentenced to additional prison time after pleading guilty to killing his cellmate.
Kevin Farley, 43, of Canastota, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of first‑degree murder for the deat
h of 40‑year‑old Adam Lafferty inside the cell they shared at Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus, Seneca County, Syracuse.com reported.
He strangled 40-year-old Adam Lafferty to death in the early hours of Dec. 23, 2024, in the cell the two men shared at Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus, Seneca County, officials said.
Lafferty, who was serving two to seven years for burglary, was found unconscious in his bed with severe head bruises and ligature marks on his neck, the Finger Lakes Times reported.
Prosecutors said Farley used a homemade ligature to strangle the victim.
Farley, who was already serving a 24-to-life sentence for the killing of Tiffany Meeks more than 10 years ago, was sentenced Wednesday to an additional 25 years to life in prison, to run consecutively.
“The addition of 25 years to life on top of a sentence of 24 years to life ensures that Farley will remain in prison a very long time,” Seneca County District Attorney John Nabinger said in a statement to local ABC affiliate WHAM. “However, the brutality of this crime combined with the complete and utter dispassionate manner in which Farley committed the crime and his actions after the fact, should result in a lifetime of incarceration.”
Meeks, a longtime acquaintance of Farley, was strangled to death with a computer cord on the night of Aug. 3, 2015. Prosecutors said he entered his former neighbor’s home in Oneida in an attempt to rape her.
After the killing, Farley stole Meeks’ debit card and car and drove from Madison County to Onondaga County. He later carjacked a woman at a supermarket in Syracuse by threatening her with a knife, but crashed into another vehicle when trying to escape, officials said.
