WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — An investigation is ongoing after an apartment fire was discovered during a drug bust in Winchester. According to the Winchester Police Department, officers were executing a search warrant Wednesday at an apartment on North Main Street when they noticed smoke coming from underneath a bed. Police say officers evacuated the apartment and attempted to put out the fire. By the time firefighters arrived, flames were shooting from a window near the roof. Fire crews were able to rescue several pets from the apartment, and officials say no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, investigators say one person who lived in one of the apartments was arrested on a charge of trafficking methamphetamine. A second person was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
