Fire crews worked with dozens of first responders on Wednesday morning as, officials said, flames tore through a three-story rowhome in Philadelphia’s Kensington community. According to police, the incident started when heavy fire was reported at a three-story property located along the 2800 b lock of North Lee Street, just before 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday. At that time, officials said first responders saw flames pouring from the third floor of a three-story building that had storefronts on the first floor and apartments above. As crews worked to extinguish the flames, officials said, firefighters found conditions too dangerous to be inside the building and all crews were removed to use external methods to put out the fire. Overall, officials said, more than 70 firefighters, medics and support staff arrived at the scene to assist during this incident. As of about 9:19 a.m., officials said the flames were placed under control and there were no injuries reported during this incident.
