Emmy winning actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Monday after he was alleged to have physically assaulted a ride-share driver, Los Angeles police told NBC LA Investigates. Police responded to a call about an assault involving a ride-share driver at an intersection just south of the Ho llywood Hills. The suspect, later identified as Sutherland, is accused of entering the vehicle, physically assaulting the driver and making “criminal threats toward the victim,” the LAPD said. The driver did not require medical treatment, police said. Sutherland was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal threats, the agency said. Jail records indicated Sutherland was released from custody a few hours later on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Feb. 2. NBC Los Angeles has reached out to Sutherland’s representatives for comment. The British-born Canadian actor is best known for his longtime portrayal of federal agent Jack Bauer on the Fox TV ticking-time-bomb thriller “24,” which earned him an Emmy and a Golden Globe award.
