CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County firefighters monitored air quality after a two-vehicle crash involving a hybrid vehicle that leaked gas into the air on Monday night. On the night of Monday, Jan.12, firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS had to remove a 12-volt bat tery from a hybrid car after the vehicle started to release gas into the air. The car was hit from behind on Hull Street near Hampton Park, causing toxic fumes to be released into the air. Firefighters worked on the scene and monitored air quality while working with the Energy Security Agency (ESA) to ensure that the vehicle's high-voltage battery was stable.
