Video: Man leaves dog poop on parked Cybertruck in South Bay
Jan 12, 2026
(KRON) -- A dogwalker in the South Bay left a little present for a parked Tesla Cybertruck.
A man walking two dogs was caught on video leaving a bag of dog poop on a Cybertruck parked in Los Gatos on Jan. 7 around 4:45 p.m. The owner, Mike Smith of Hollister, parked his vehicle as he was getting d
inner and came back to a bag of feces left on his side skirt.
Smith, a disabled military veteran who installed a side skirt on his Cybertruck, has had the controversial vehicle for about four months. This comes as no surprise, as Smith knew incidents like this come with the territory of owning a Cybertruck.
"When I first bought this vehicle, I knew it would come with this type of behavior," Smith tells KRON4 in a virtual interview as he sits inside his Cybertruck. "Since I've had the vehicle, I've had multiple encounters. This was -- you would think with Teslas being around for as long as they have -- they would know there's some type of security footage available.

"It wasn't surprising. I've had multiple instances before where I've had this type of behavior. It's not anything new."
Video (above) shows a man dropping off the bag of poop as he walks by the vehicle -- perhaps not knowing he was being recorded on the truck's surveillance cameras. Smith posted the video to the Facebook page "Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley," which has gotten more than 16,000 views.
Smith said instances like these have happened before since owning the Cybertruck. People have flipped him off while stopped at red lights, thrown stuff at the vehicle and yelled profanity at him.
According to Smith, who lives in Hollister but commutes to Silicon Valley for work, events like these happen much more often in the Bay Area.
"What I've noticed is I get a lot more negative interactions in the immediate Bay Area," Smith said. "When I drive outside of the Bay Area, say Central Valley or anywhere outside a metropolitan area, I get a lot more curiosity, lot of people want to check the vehicle out."
Smith has another Tesla, a Model Y, but said there have not been such instances with owning that SUV. Despite incidents like strangers littering dog poop on his truck, Smith has no plans to sell his Cybertruck anytime soon.
"The coolest vehicle I've ever owned. I urge everyone to test drive one," he said.
